Magnolia West High School Among the Best in the U. S.

Kresston teens will attend Magnolia West High School, recently named in the US News & World Report 2023-2024 Best High Schools Rankings.

Approximately 18,000 public schools in the nation were ranked by the magazine based on exceptional scores on state assessments for math, reading and science as well as those passing college-level exams and graduating in four years.

Magnolia West ranked among the top 21 percent nationally and the top 22 percent in Texas. Plus, the school ranked among the top third in the greater Houston area. According to the report, the school placed 332 among Texas public schools. The AP® participation rate at Magnolia West High School is 43 percent. The graduation rate is 97 percent.

Magnolia West students place above average on state mandated tests. The school received three distinctions in 2022 for academic achievement in science and social studies. Magnolia West was also awarded a distinction for postsecondary readiness. Niche placed the school among the top 25 percent Best College Prep Public High Schools in Texas this year.

In addition to strong academics, the school boasts a robust athletic program. Students can participate in football, baseball, track, volleyball, golf, soccer, softball, swimming tennis and more. This year, the baseball team won the 5A state championship. Students also have opportunities to participate in numerous clubs and extracurricular activities.

Magnolia ISD serves 14,000 students across 17 campuses. The district ranks among the top 25 percent best school districts in Texas, according to Niche.
